Schools
Wichita County schools provide an excellent education to the students of Wichita County, as evident by the accolades the schools receive. In 2005, each school in the district received two Standard of Excellence Awards granted by the Kansas Department of Education. Each school also received Challenge Awards for Academic Excellence in 2005. To prepare our students for a technology-driven world, Wichita County schools feature advanced wireless computer technology for student use and web-based student information systems accessible to parents. USD #467 Recognized As "Efficiency Frontier" School District Wichita County School District #467 was one of 21 school districts in the State of Kansas that received a 100% efficiency rating in the new Standard and Poor's report commissioned by Governor Kathleen Sebelius. The report, released in June 2007, studied 257 school districts in Kansas. The study identified how well each Kansas school district maximized its resources, taking into account the amount each district spends per student, their performance on the Kansas Reading and Math Assessments and the percentage of enrolled students with economically disadvantaged backgrounds, disabilities or limited English proficiency. "We cannot spend our way to excellence," Governor Sebelius said. "But we can achieve excellent through strategic investments in the right areas." Sebelius calls the project a "road map of what works and what doesn't" that gives school leaders a chance to learn from those who spend their money wisely. |
